Our second-generation algorithm surfaces people who share your values, not just your zip code.
Proximity is a poor proxy for compatibility. Our second-generation matching model, rolling out to all members this month, weighs what people actually tell us about their values, communication style, and intentions — and it improves as they use the product.
Beyond the zip code
The previous model leaned heavily on distance and activity. The new one treats those as constraints rather than goals, then ranks within them on values alignment and conversational fit. In testing, this produced fewer matches per week but markedly more conversations that lasted beyond a single exchange.

- Conversation-style signals learned from how you actually chat
- Intent matching, so people looking for the same thing meet each other
- A transparent breakdown showing why each person was surfaced
Designed to be understood
Every match now carries an explanation. We think people deserve to know why an algorithm made a suggestion about their life, and that transparency turns out to make the suggestions easier to trust.
